Otra entrevista a James
Hace poco, James Morrison, en entrevista volvió a comentar un poco más sobre Broken Strings:
Another songwriter, Nina Woodford, helped Morrison realize, inadvertently, that “Broken Strings” needed a female singer to accompany him. That singer eventually turned out to be Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado.
“It just started off with a normal song, ‘Broken Strings,’” said Morrison, who added he is tentatively slated to tour with Joss Stone this spring in the US. “Then I was meant to sing a harmony and I lost my voice. One of the co-writers sang down the part and it just sounded cool, having a girl voice and a guy voice together, that’s kind of where the duet idea came from. Just from that.
“It sounds really good. It could either be really great or be really crap on the duet. I didn’t know at the time. I just tried to think of singers I could see myself wanting to work with. Nelly Furtado was the most interesting one, really. I couldn’t think of any other female singers that would kind of be that. Even Colbie Caillat’s got a brilliant voice. I just wanted someone a bit more less soul or R&B. She’s got quite a distinctive voice really, Nelly Furtado.”

En entrevista reciente con el sitio RealMusic Blog, el cantante James Morrison comentó un par de cosas sobre su colaboración con Nelly Furtado.
Your new single Broken Strings is your first duet and it’s with Nelly Furtado – not bad!
“Yeah – it’s amazing that she’s on the record. I didn’t know if she’d be up for it and I didn’t have the bollocks to ring her myself in case she said no, so the label phoned her, she said yes and I flew to Canada to record the song. It was all done in a day so it was pretty quick, but she was cool to work with. She said she’d listened to my first album and really liked it and I told her the same – we were a mutual appreciation society! I thought she might be a bit of a diva, but she was pretty chilled out and normal.”
